Fresh

Happy Spring!  I’m sure those of you stateside are starting to enjoy warmer temperatures.  The days are definitely getting hotter here in San Juan, but we are still enjoy a fresh breeze in the evening and early morning.

We were blessed to have Rod and Sandy Nofziger here for the first 2.5 months of the year.  They were such an encouragement to us.  As I shared in a previous blog, they were the guesthouse hosts when Jeff first visited the DR in 2006, and they also hosted us at the guesthouse when we came for our honeymoon in 2008. They shared so much wisdom with us and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them.

Jon and Alissa Miller joined us at the beginning of March and received 2 weeks of training from Rod and Sandy as they transitioned into their new position as guesthouse hosts.  It’s great to have familiar faces to work alongside as they are originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana.  We have been enjoying our time together with many laughs and memories!

My anxiety has finally subsided, this has been a relief.  I go to bed with an open mind, and I feel like I am able to take breaks throughout the day without a constant “to do list” on my mind.

Braegan’s personality continues to grow with each passing day.  Her Spanish is incredible.  She thrives in structure and routine.  If our schedule is off in any way, she’s so confused.  This past weekend we stayed at the Lighthouse Guesthouse with our incoming team and Braegan and Nashley enjoyed some time by the pool.  They have so much fun together, and I love watching their friendship develop!

Last week we hosted a teacher team from Phoenix, Arizona.  This was the same team I worked with 2 years ago.  They provided professional development at a local teaching university and at CCED.  I appreciate their support toward education in the DR and their willingness to serve during their spring break.

We are wrapping up our winter season of teams this week with a team from Clemson University. Following this week, we have 3 weeks off.  We are looking forward to down time.  The first week we will be relaxing in San Juan.  We will leave March 30th to spend a week in Florida with Jeff’s family. Following that we will prepare for our spring teams.  We are planning a beach day with our Dominican staff!

Thanks for your continued prayers and encouragement!

How you can be praying for us:

-Rest and health

-Safe travels
