Our visas finally arrived last Thursday, and we booked our plane tickets for the following day. After a long day of travel this past Friday, we arrived in San Juan de la Maguana. Jeff and I both agree that it was the smoothest and quickest flights we have ever brought into the country! We were gladly greeted by all of the guesthouse staff, and were able to enjoy Saturday relaxing before preparing for the new group to arrive on Sunday.
Every time I return to the DR, it seems as if I have never left. It is one of the few places that I can visualize the landmarks as we travel throughout the country side.
Jeff, Braegan, and I are all adjusting well to our new home. Braegan has always been very intuitive and loves watching people, and there are definitely a lot of new faces for her to take in. She has been taking great 2-3 hour naps during the day which allows me to get some work done. She is also continuing to sleep through the night, ignoring the sounds of traffic, animals, the generator, people talking, etc:) I can’t complain!
Jeff visited El Cercado yesterday to get an idea of a current construction project that is needing work. The school in Cercado is in the process of finishing up a kitchen/dining hall addition for their students and staff. Next week we will have a few people working construction, and so Jeff will be over there with them during the days.
I have been brainstorming some possible projects for the educational side of things here. We visited CCED this morning and the students loved seeing Braegan. Throughout the coming weeks, I am hoping to meet with the administrators at the schools to find out some ideas they may have.
Prayer Requests:
-Even though we have received our visas, they are only temporary. They are good for 2 months. Jeff, Braegan and I will need to go to Santo Domingo between now and the end of November to finalize our visa for the year. Each visa is good for 1 year, and then we will need to renew. From my understanding the renewal process is not as tedious as the initial application. Pray for the continuation of the process;)
-Our health, I know with all change, stress and fatigue tend to play a role. Please pray that God will continue to provide the rest and strength that we need for each new day.
Thanks again for your continued prayers and support, we obviously wouldn’t be here without you.
