Life here in San Juan has been going well. Transition presents its challenges, but we are on the upside and life seems to be working itself out! Jeff and I have gotten into a good routine with our schedules. We feel like we have healthier boundaries between ministry and family, and this is a huge milestone for us!
We are wrapping up our 6th week of teams from the winter. It has been busy around the guesthouse working on repairs, spending time with the teams, and preparing for our spring teams. Next week we have our monthly meeting with the Dominican staff to prepare for our next set of teams. I have also been finalizing details for our summer VBS teams. This is our 5th year of organizing a VBS manual for our teams which helps to create consistency among our teams from year to year.
Since we do not have a team next week, Jeff is planning a couple day get-a-way with the guys to go camping and spearfishing. He’s looking forward to this time away. I will probably enjoy some quiet time reading on the roof while Braegan is at school. It’s been a while since I’ve been up there:)
Braegan turned 5 last week. She enjoyed celebrating with our team from Spartanburg. This was her 4th celebration with their team. Sandy made her a brownie cake with powdered sugar, sprinkles and frosting. She loved it. We were in Santo Domingo this weekend, and her one request was to eat dinner at IKEA. She loves the pasta there, and so do we! I’m amazed each day at all of the details she takes in and retains. She’s wise beyond her years! We are excited for this next year as she will start kindergarten in the fall!
When we moved to the DR in 2013, I looked for online communities of women serving overseas to find support. One of the communities I became a part of is called Velvet Ashes. This past fall I participated in a connection group on facebook through Velvet Ashes. It was encouraging to have weekly conversations and times of prayer with other women serving around the world in different capacities. In January, I was contacted to facilitate a connection group, so I am excited to start that next week and be in fellowship with a group of women throughout the next two months! You can be praying for the women that sign up to be a part of my connection group.
I think that’s about all for now. Continued prayers for rest and health are appreciated.
